About Auxiliary Unit 77 (Houston, TX)

In 1948, The American Legion John R. Burkett-Beverly E. Miller Post 77 was chartered. Auxiliary Unit 77 was later organized to advance the mission of the post. Today, American Legion Auxiliary Unit 77, Houston, Texas is organized as a stand-alone, chartered veterans’ support organization.

Ida Miller

Ida Miller (Past-President of Unit 77 and Gold Star Mother) was the mother of Beverly E. Miller for which Post 77 and Unit 77 are named. Beverly E. Miller served in the U.S. Army Air Forces, 319th Fighter Squadron, 325th Fighter Group. He died in combat on Monday, January 10, 1944 and was memorialized at Florence American Cemetery located in Via Cassia, Italy. He was awarded the Air Medal and the Purple Heart. His name appears on the World War II Memorial in Washington, D.C. as Buried at Sea.
